The world’s oldest man, Walter Breuning, died yesterday at 114 years old. While reading an article done on his life, they listed Walter’s secrets to a long life:
— Embrace change, even when the change slaps you in the face. (“Every change is good.”)
— Eat two meals a day (“That’s all you need.”)
— Work as long as you can (“That money’s going to come in handy.”)
— Help others (“The more you do for others, the better shape you’re in.”)
He lived a long and wonderful life and gave the best advice. I always enjoyed listening to interviews with him. So why is this a lesson in procrastination? Walter Breuning lived in a retirement home about a mile down the road from us. For the ten months we have lived here, I have thought numerous times about wanting to go meet him. I never made it.
A sad lesson in procrastination. Sorry you never met him.
“Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today”.
That quote is so true. I need to remember that more often.
I heard about him on the news yesterday. He sounded like a very neat old man. Sorry you never got to meet him.
Everything about him was amazing. I can’t get over how much he saw in his lifetime.
I’ve read this blog to quite a few people, very sobering message. Very well written!
Thank you.
yes, we should not hesitate too long – but you made a great tribute to Walter Breuning – also a gift for him.
